A life inspired by nature.
For over 40 years Michael has made Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada his home though he was born and raised along with two siblings in a modest home in the Westboro neighbourhood of Ottawa, the nation's capital.

For over 40 years Michael has made Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada his home though he was born and raised along with two siblings in a modest home in the Westboro neighbourhood of Ottawa, the nation's capital.
Michael's childhhood years were filled with outdoor adventures spent playing along the rocky and wooded shores of the Ottawa River, just a stone's throw from home.
As a teen he continued his love of the outdoors as a summer camp counsellor teaching and engaging children with nature lore activities and canoing instruction.
Michael, as a young man, made his way across Canada to the Pacific North West and in particular to Vancouver, Canada's western most urban centre and the jumping off point to so much of the legendarily stunning and beautifully rugged Pacific Coast scenery.
The unparalled beauty and raw natural energy of the Pacific West Coast has captured Michael's heart and soul and has become the main driving force and the inspiration behind his artistic accomplishments.
"I could never call another place home," Michael says, "where would I go, why would I leave?"

Through the use of colour and light Michael's landscapes are bringing our attention to the rugged beauty, the depth of character and to the enduring yet fleeting vistas surrounding us.
Michael encourages us to create and treasure the great art that will continue to speak to us through a vision of colour and light.

"Oh, it's oils for me!"
Michael prefers painting his loose expressionistic style of realism in oils on wood panels and works regularily too on canvas and archival paper.
Painting En Plein Air is a passion and discipline; and a genre with which Michael has found great opportunities for expression.

Painting En Plein Air is a passion and discipline; and a genre with which Michael has found great opportunities for expression.
Working from a modest home studio Michael is also creating art through still life arrangements, landscape compositions from his own source photos and often from creative life inspired statements.
For a final and personal touch of the artistic presentation of his work Michael will commonly produce and complete the framing using pine or oak.
